Wonderland of English Camp
Last week was a very special week at Bangpleeratbamrung School, as it was the host of this year’s 2-day camp for about 50 M2 students from 16 different schools.
I was asked to plan and facilitate the camp and accepted this task with pleasure. Running a camp is so different than ordinary classroom sessions. The fun-factor is even higher and through a two day immersion, students learn at a very rapid pace.
We started the first day with some TPR activities to get the blood flowing. Stand up… Spin around… Jump 3 times… Clap… Fly to the moon! Students love these types of warm ups and for the trainers it’s a great way to capture student’s attention and get them into an active listening mode. During the two days, we covered many subjects in a fun, sometimes musical, and always playful way. We even had a guest appearance by Mr. Monkey to explain prepositions. The last module on Day 1 was a Walk Rally, which was well received and, as a side-effect, gave the visiting students a quick tour of Bangpleeratbamrung School.
Many thanks to anyone who helped out during the camp. The teachers at Bangpleeratbamrung School were instrumental in creating an entertaining and educational program. Select students from M6/2 were assisting the trainers in the background throughout the day. And of course, Mr. Monkey, who had his own special place in the camp. He usually could be found in, on, under, in front of, behind, next to, or near the box…
