Leveraging Music to Teach English in Thailand

This summer, a Thai Life Insurance launched a TV commercial with a group of Thai students singing the song “Que Sera Sera — Whatever will be will be.” The video was so cute, people quickly began to pass it around their social networks online. It seemed over the summer of 2009, all of Thailand tuned into a 50 year old song with great joy.

For an English teacher in Thailand, such a popularity of a song with English lyrics is too good. Especially if the teacher has some musical talent. In the video below, Teacher Nik is conducting the first practice session with some of his students to prepare them for their performance during Bangpleeratbamrung School’s Open House on December 15th.

And in this video, Nik and his students are having some fun in the classroom with the song “Zombie” by The Cranberries:
